Degarios Italian Ristorante Information

Tucked along NW West Union Road, Degarios Italian Ristorante feels like one of those neighborhood spots that locals quietly rave about and keep coming back to. The location in Portland’s Bethany area gives it a relaxed, suburban charm, but once you step inside, the warm lighting, rustic décor, and soft hum of conversation make it feel unmistakably like a classic Italian dining room. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a slow dinner without feeling rushed.

The menu leans into traditional Italian comfort food, and it’s clear that a lot of care goes into both preparation and presentation. Dishes like fettuccine alfredo come out rich and creamy without being overly heavy, while the marinara on the pasta classics has that slightly sweet, slow-simmered depth that suggests it’s been made in-house. The lasagna, often mentioned in reviews, layers tender pasta with a hearty meat sauce and just enough cheese to keep everything balanced rather than overwhelming. Seafood options, like shrimp scampi, are cooked with a light touch, letting the garlic and butter enhance rather than mask the freshness.

Service here tends to match the tone of the space-friendly, attentive, but never intrusive. Staff are usually happy to walk you through the menu or suggest wine pairings, and there’s a noticeable effort to make guests feel comfortable whether they’re regulars or first-timers. During busier evenings, there can be a bit of a wait, but it’s generally handled well, and the pacing of the meal still feels thoughtful rather than rushed.

One thing that stands out from various customer reviews is the consistency. While some diners note that the menu doesn’t change frequently, others see that as a strength, since it means the kitchen has had time to really refine its core dishes. Portion sizes are generous without being excessive, making it a good spot for both date nights and casual family dinners.

Being located at 18365 NW West Union Rd, it’s not right in downtown Portland’s busiest dining scene, but that’s part of the appeal. It feels like a place designed for the community around it, where people come not just for the food but for a dependable, welcoming experience. Prices are fairly in line with mid-range Italian dining in the area, and considering the quality and portion sizes, most diners seem to find good value here.

There may not be the experimental flair you’d find in some trendier spots, but what Degarios Italian Ristorante offers is something just as valuable: a steady, comforting take on Italian cuisine that keeps people coming back because it simply delivers what it promises.

What People's Say About Place

Wonderful family-ran italian restaurant! We came here for a belated Valentine's dinner! Everything we had was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the lobster ravioli & halibut! Also, do not leave without a piece of homemade tiramisu! It was amazing! Service was perfect & friendly with great recommendations! We can't wait to come back!

Degarios Italian Restaurant delivers a warm, classic dining experience with standout dishes that make the visit worthwhile. The ribeye entrée was cooked beautifully—tender, flavorful, and seasoned just right. It’s a hearty, satisfying option that truly impresses. For dessert, Degarios really shines. The dessert was rich, delicious, and the perfect sweet finish to the meal. You can tell they put real care into their sweets. The atmosphere is inviting and the service attentive, making it a great spot for a relaxed evening out.

A hidden gem you must visit or revisit. This place has been around for a while but relatively recent gone through some upgrades and I’m impressed. The atmosphere inside is great. The food presentation is fantastic. The service is top notch. And most importantly, the food tastes amazing. We enjoyed the Seafood Fettuccine and the Trofie Al Pesto. Both were fantastic. There is a menu for kids as well and we tried the pepperoni pizza which was also well received by our kiddo. So I highly recommend trying this place or revisiting if you visited a while back before the upgrades.

We live nearby and have passed this restaurant several times, but this was our first night coming in. The ceasar salad was fresh and delicious. The pasta dishes were well prepared and we enjoyed the seafood fettuccine and the penne with fennel sausage. We finished our meal with an excellent Panna Cotta. The servers Leo and Hoss(probably spelling his name wrong) were awesome! They were really attentive and made our experience here special. 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for great Italian food and exceptional service.

We had a very nice time here on the evening of February 17, 2026. It was for our 24th Wedding Anniversary so it was really important to us. I would give the experience a 10 out of 10. I loved the booths. They had high backs which added lots of privacy. I hate it when I am in a typical booth and I have to be face to face with the person in the next booth over. The cocktails were great. My Wife had a Strawberry Genovese and I had the Gozio Margarita. The appetizer of Foccacia Mushrooms was really good. My Wife had the Lobster Ravioli. I had the Saffron Tortellini which was magnificent! I highly recommend it and I most certainly will have it again in the future. The Saffron Tortellini was incredible! Our waiter was Jassiel and he was great! He gave us a complimentary dessert because of our anniversary. We are deeply grateful to Degarios for making our special night so wonderful! It was our first time here and we most certainly will return again.

Wow impressed! The food and the quality is amazing. The drinks are delicious. Exceeded my expectations. Probably some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had highly recommended and great service. I even love the decor and reasonably priced especially the drinks.

Came in during lunch time. Food was delicious, really enjoyed the Pizza Margherita, Chicken Fettuccini and the Lobster Ravioli! Unfortunately did not have space to try the Tiramisu, hopefully next time.

Waitress very busy only came to the table three times! Food was good! We think the tiramisu was probably one of the best!
